A True Original Off Broadway

New York City has a bevy of theatrical offerings for both visitors and locals alike, but the Off Broadway play, White Rabbit Red Rabbit, is a truly unique viewing experience. The play is currently running at the Westside Theater Downstairs and continues until July 25, 2016. Located less than a mile and a half from The Roger, White Rabbit Red Rabbit is not to be missed. This one of a kind play has no director, no set, and no rehearsals.

White Rabbit Red Rabbit was created, something this original cannot be described as written, by Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour in 2010. Because there is no director and no rehearsals, the performer is given the script for the first time ever before walking on to stage for their performance. As a result, each performance sheds light on the intended themes of obedience and convention differently than the last. Notable actors who have performed the sole role in the play include Patrick Wilson, Wayne Brady, Martin Short, Nathan Lane, and Whoopi Goldberg. The play runs continuously for 75 minutes and costs $20 per ticket. The theater has a capacity of about 250, so you may want to purchase your tickets beforehand. This global sensation is only available at the Westside Theater Downstairs for another month, so act quickly!

After experiencing as unique a play as there is currently, take some time to explore the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood where the theater is located. You will surely have lots to talk about after the performance, so perhaps a leisurely stroll back to The Roger will be in order. You can even continue your conversation at the Parlour Bistro and Lounge over cocktails or an after performance meal. Regardless of your choice of activity after the show, you will not regret being a part of such a unique theater experience.
