Being Green is Second Nature

Even in the so-called “concrete jungle,” there’s nothing like New York in the spring, and the timing for our most recent award couldn’t be more symbolic of the season. TripAdvisor recently awarded our Madison Avenue hotel with the Green Leaders accolade. The TripAdvisor Green Leaders programs proudly showcases and honors eco-friendly hotels, from budget to luxury, that are committed to green practices like recycling, using local goods and having electric car charging stations. The Roger prides itself on constantly improving our green efforts. We are a non-smoking hotel and currently offer refillable C.O. Bigelow bath products in every guest room. C.O. Bigelow is renowned for their herbal, eco-friendly ingredients. We do a towel and linen re-use program to reduce wasting water for laundry, as well as a recycle program. Many of the guest rooms have a private garden terrace with plants, which naturally produce oxygen and help purify the air. Approximately ninety percent of our lighting uses energy-efficient light bulbs. Every staff member is trained on green practices and we track our energy use on a regular basis. After a day exploring the city, one can enjoy lunch or dinner at The Parlour, our on property restaurant, that uses locally-sourced food from New York City favorites including Murray’s Cheese Bar in The West Village, Sarabeth’s Kitchen and Balthazar to create menus with bold Big Apple flavor. Being an advocate for eco-friendly hotel practices is our top priority and we see it as a way to better serve our guests. Winning the TripAdvisor Bronze Award is a proud badge of honor to our commitment to improving hotel practices nationwide.
